12lb Tay Salmon

A big water this Saturday morning but it dropped 6" by 2pm so i took Calum McRoberts out for a wee harl for an hour. He had been at Dunkeld House for a few hours in the morning and he dropped in for a blether. We fished for the hour before Calum had to get home and as i was winding in the fish nailed a pearly pink Tomic.

10lb Tay Salmon

Mr David Gardiner landed this fine 10lb springer from the Steps Pool on a Vision 110 this morning. Well done David.

Rumours are rife throught the Tay that the Burnmouth beat in Stanley are still killing all the Springers they catch. The only difference this year is that beat owner Mike Smith is not posting the catches on Fishtay and the speculation is that they have had over 50 so far, all in the freezer awaiting the smokehouse!
If these rumours are true then it's a disgrace that they are getting away with it especially as every other beat on the Tay is making every effort to ensure that the Spring run increases in strengh in the future.
It boils the blood to think that all these fine fish are being ruthlessly despatched. Lets be honest, who can eat that much smoked Salmon?
Let your feelings be known please.
There is a Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board open annual meeting in the Birnam Institute on Tuesday 25th March at 18.45
All are welcome to this meeting to hear about the work of the Board and ask questions.
