Mr Duncan Goldsmith caught this stunning sea liced Spring Salmon from the Steps Pool this morning. Duncan was fishing Newtyle for the first time since his last visit 5 years ago. His fishing partner AAPGI Instructor Darren lewis landed the fish which was safely returned to carry on his journey upstream. The fish was caught on a 1" alloy tube, silver body with black and yellow hair wing. Good work Gents.

Mr Sandy Datta caught this fish in the Steps pool on Tuesday 30 Oct. We only caught 1 fish on the last day of the season which fell to Angling Active Stirling owner Chris Grantham. A few fish were lost, and a rising river certainly put paid to the possibility of any large catches. Overall it has been a good season on Newtyle with 180 fish.

This fish was caught from the neck of the Trap and is my biggest fly caught Salmon. We had 9 fish in total today, Malcolm Anderson had 3 to 15lb all from the Dean's burn, Sandy Datta landed a 17lb fish in the Steps, Martin Wilson landed a 6lber in the Boil and John Legg had a 10lb fish from the Fiddlers. Every one of them caught on the fly. Not a plug in sight....Great stuff lads.

Mr Andy Kerr with his biggest Newtle Salmon. Andy caught this fish in the Boil on Saturday morning. He also lost another fish in the Boil. Whilst playing the fish, one of the canoes taking part in the Tay Descent came to close to Andy's side of the river and managed to hit the line with their paddle. I know that most of the canoeists adhere to the instructions given to them before they deploy but some of them just show a blatant disregard to anyone else using the river. Tough luck Andy, we could have had 5 today......

I was lucky enough to become the owner of a Hardy Zenith 15ft rod yesterday and i have to say, it is absolutely the best rod i have ever laid my hands on and i managed to christen it with 3 fish on its first outing!  Nice.

Mr Hans Abrahamsson, fishing the Tay for the first time all this week, landed this fine fly caught hen fish from the Cotter this morning. Hans is on a personal crusade to catch a salmon on Scotlands "big 4" rivers and having landed fish on the Spey and the Dee earlier this year has now added the mighty Tay to his tally.
