There was the water level and weather conditions at 5pm last nite. The water has dropped over night and is currently at 2ft 6 today with overcast conditions. Water colour is still rather peaty but we hope that will clean up soon.

Big Rising Water On The Tay Today

The waters been rising all day today and was well over 5ft by lunchtime. We managed to land a 9lb sea licer on the fly and a 8lb sea trout before the weather and water went silly.

Great Start To The Week

We've had a really good start to this week. On Monday we landed 3 Springers. Newtyle Regular Mr Allan Rennie landed 2 of these, a 9lber on the fly and a 7lber on a toby, Mr George Portis Landed a 7.5lber on the fly aswell. Mr Rene Alleyne was unfortunate and lost a springer on the fly after a short battle from the anchored boat.
This Morning visiting Welsh angler Mr Lawson Jones landed a spanking 12lber on the fly, Very well done to Lawson on his 1st ever springer.

The water rose all day today, level was 2ft 2 this morning and well over 7ft by 6pm.

In trying conditions we managed to land 2 salmon and lost 4. I landed a 7lber on a salmo and Mr Martin Moran landed a 3lb grilse on the fly.

River Tay Salmon Fishing

The water was up to 3ft this morning and dropped back to 2ft 4 by the end of the day. Water was quite peaty this morning with lots of autumn leaves in the river. We landed 6 salmon(15lb, 12lb, 11lb, 8lb, 7.5lb & 6lb), 4 harling and 2 from the bank spinning. 3 of the fish were fresh, 1 no bad one, 1 crocodile and 1 old stinker of a hen fish, she looked ready to drop, quite strange for the time of year.
Quite a few fresh fish were seen over the day so hopefully get in amongst then again tomorrow.

Well thats another week over, 5 more weeks to go and that the season over for another year. We finished off the week with 2 salmon on the fly. Mr Greig Potts landed a 5lber clean fish from the boil and Mr Grenville Herrald landed a nice 6lber on the fly from fiddlers. Well done to you both.

River Tay Fishing Water Gauge

The water level is holding pretty steady around the 11" mark. A 12lber was landed on the fly from the boil pool. There are plenty fish in the pools so sport is pretty steady at the moment

The water had rising 5" over night, the wee lift seemed to unsettle the fish today but it started dropping back over the day.
