Ladies Fishing News Release

Ladies Fly Fishing for Salmon to raise money for Casting for Recovery

Ladies fishing are holding two salmon fishing events on The Newtyle Beat, River Tay Monday 31st & Tuesday 1st June to raise money for the unique fly fishing programme for women who have, or have had breast cancer, Casting for Recovery.

The North East Ladies Group have organised ladies fly fishing events across the UK to raise money for the charity, Anne Woodcock Ladies Fishing event organisor said “Casting for Recovery provides fly fishing programmes at idyllic retreats around the UK and Ireland. This fund-raising will make a difference to the initiative's ability to provide unforgettable weekends for its lady participants”

Salmon fishing on the Tay is there first event to raise money but also to encourage ladies into fly fishing. Any lady interested in learning the art of fly fishing for salmon is welcome to experienced fisherwomen looking to fine-tune their techniques. Paul Little AAPGAI master in the double handed rod will be instructing during the 2 days with the help from coaches Cliff Johnston and Anne Woodcock.

The event will be held at The Newtyle Beat on the river Tay famous for its salmon fishing, which is enjoying a successful 2010 season. The beat consists of a 6-rod lower beat and a 6-rod upper beat, most of which provides double bank fishing. Throughout the beats there are 11 named pools. The Victorian-style fishing hut, with its welcoming coal fire, is probably the most picturesque hut on the Tay. Martin Richie the Head Gillie's friendly approach and expertise will ensure that all have a great day out.

Martin Ritchie is the first person to catch a salmon on the fly especially designed by Paul Little and tied by the ladies to raise money for Casting for Recovery called the Pink Duchess

The event has been priced to encourage ladies into fly fishing, with 50% of the proceeds going to Casting for Recovery.

Event includes fishing, tuition, equipment if required, lunch, drinks and a gift from Glasgow Anglers for all ladies. Price per rod £55.00 (limited to 12 rods)
